Authorities say a Collier County man sent an undercover detective who was posing as a 14-year-old child some child pornography through an America Online account and solicited the teenager for sex.

Collier County sheriff's deputies arrested Alan E. Hoy, 40, of 2080 23rd St. S.W., Golden Gate, and charged him with 16 counts of possession of obscene material involving children in sex acts and four counts of transmitting child pornography by computer. He was arrested Thursday.

Detectives in Collier County talked to Hoy in March about his e-mail accounts and the screen names he used. Investigators analyzed his laptop computer where he allegedly had received the images and traded them.

Hoy told deputies that he probably had 500 images on his computer, but then later said he probably had 100. When deputies asked how many of them had images of children having sex, he said less than 10 percent.

Reports say when he received the images, he would "send them out" to other people. He said he received photos and videos and between 10 and 15 percent of them were child porn.
